"Two years ago we adopted a dog from you. His shelter name was Turbo, we renamed him "Smokin' Joe" because he was (supposedly) a Boxer mix. (We did his DNA: he's 50% American Staffordshire Terrier and 50% American Bulldog.) He's too smart for his own good, but very much loved. He loves meeting new people, adores little kids, and (before Covid) loved going to a local nursing home to visit the residents, many of whom still ask about him." – 08/2020 (The first photo (blue collar) is his shelter pic. The second one is from a couple weeks ago.) – THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING UPDATES –
WE LOVE TO SEE OUR ANIMALS IN THEIR HAPPY HOMES!!! :)

We received a very special communication from a very special young girl that touched our hearts and we wanted to share. Her name is Avery Sontheimer. What makes this message extra-special is the fact that she has Ewing Sarcoma Cancer, she has a passion for animals and it is her mission to help organizations like ours. We wanted to share this with you all, because it is a message to all of the organization that she wants to let us know that there is someone out there that cares about the hard work we do year-round. Please read below...check out her Facebook page at: Averys Pawsitive Change If anyone would like to "Like" her page and show her some support in her mission. Thank you Avery for making our day.
"Romeo is doing great! We absolutely adore him, he fits in nicely with my family and I. Finn loves having a brother, they balance each other out. I have included some pictures and a videos of him – Thank You!!!!!!"
It is thanks to our wonderful donors, awesome adopters, fantastic volunteers and stellar staff that we are able to make matches like this possible – Thank you!!!!
"I could seriously talk about Bishop for DAYS so I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible… sorry in advance! I’ve been involved with Animal Protectors for about 6 years now, between volunteering and being a staff member, and have adopted three cats and one dog from the organization. I would like to eventually give updates on all of them but for now I will tell you a little bit about Bishop. Bishop and another cat (Ferguson) were left in a crate outside of the shelter on January 1st, 2017 (anyone who has watched ‘New Girl’ will understand where we got the names from!). There was no note or explanation why someone abandoned them but they were admitted into the shelter. Since I was working at AP I saw Bishop a lot and became really attached to him (just ask anyone who worked with me at the time!). I ended up taking him home as a foster, with the help and coaxing of my coworkers (thanks Jody!), and I think you can figure out how that story ended. I was definitely a “foster failure” when it came to Bishop. Bishop “Butterball” Caruthers has now been a part of my family for over 3 years and I honestly don’t know how there was ever a time when he wasn’t. He is a purring machine, loves belly rubs, and doesn’t hate me for dressing him up from time to time, haha! I wouldn’t say that I was ever truly a “dog person” or “cat person” but I’ve always worked more with the dogs at AP so I always leaned more that way. Now whenever anyone asks me which one I am I just say, “I’m a Bishop person”. It’s true… I actually say that. I still wonder all the time about where he came from and what his name was before he found himself at Animal Protectors… but I’m just so happy that I was able to meet him and make him part of my family. He is so loved. <3" *Bishop also has his own Instagram account @thebishmanc
"Hi! Thanks for calling the other day to check on Luigi (Buddy) who we adopted back in March. He's doing great! We attached a few pictures of him for you." – Matt and Adam
"Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for being able to officially adopt my MayMay (a.k.a Destiny)...
Animal Protectors was wonderful thru the whole process from the volunteers and staff they did a wonderful job and for that I found my cuddle bug and my wonderful addition to my family... Myself and MayMay thank you for making this possible ..." – Amee Vorndran "If you remember Snoopy – he was very shy and timid, but he fits right in to this family!
He loves his morning walk. He knows as soon as his Dad gets up in the morning, it’s walk time! He loves to play with his brother Jules. When it’s 5:00 o’clock he knows that Mommy and Daddy are home from work. At night time he loves to sleep with his sister. He knows how to sit and he loves his stuffed coffee cup! Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt Snoopy and we look forward to sharing updates with you along the way!" – The Broderick Family "I just wanted to send a quick update on Maggie :) I worked at Animal Protectors for about 5 years and a while working there in 2014 Maggie was an owner surrender along with her brother Hardy (who was later adopted by a family friend of mine). She didn't like the shelter environment and we thought it was best for her to be fostered. We thought she was around 7-8 yrs old. I brought her home with me to initially foster but ended up being a "foster failure" and adopted her. She has come so far in the 6 years I have had her. She still zips around like a puppy sometimes and is my yippee little sidekick. She is starting to show her age but still has some good years left. Attached are some pictures over the years including when she was at the shelter and one of a play date with her brother.
Thanks, Rachel Brown" "We have had Rascal since February as a foster in the plans to adopt him! He is a great dane/boxer mix. Then came the corona virus in March which pushed the adoption process back up until finally on May 29th we officially made him ours!❤️ He was extremely shy with us at first as he came from a hoarding home, but with much love and trust he has become the best snuggler and our other dog Ella’s best friend! He is a wonderful dog, who I am extremely grateful we gave him the chance to be! He has already learned how to give paw, speak and even stay and play in our yard! We just love him and glad we found him through Animal Protectors! Everyone here is so nice and I hope to keep in touch with the volunteers and staff!
Thank you again for allowing our family to love him forever️!!!!" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The Mellinger Family |
