Indo |

Special Needs: Indo needs to be placed as an only pet.
Indo is a sweet girl who loves attention from people. She also loves long walks in the sun and enjoys playing in the yard. She must be placed in a home with no other dogs and with someone that can understand this issue.

"Indo is my absolute favorite dog at the shelter. She is SUCH a cuddlebug! She has come such a long way since she first got there. She has nothing but love for people. She loves to just sit on the bench with me or lay in the grass and have her belly rubbed, and when she's getting my attention, she pays no attention to the other dogs who are outside. She is such a sweetie and she would be an awesome companion for someone who does not have other pets."

Shiloh is such a sweetheart! She walks well on her leash and is just dying to have our volunteers pet her. Stop in to visit Shiloh, you are guaranteed to fall for her!

Puzzle is a young pit bull mix. He has really great light brindle markings. Puzzle was a local stray and recently had his first "outing" at a meet and greet. He behaved well, rode well in the car, event exhibited some signs of being housebroken (he didn't go potty in the store, in other words). More to come on this adorable puppy as we all get to know him better.

Special Needs: Fusion has a few skin issues, he may require medication.
Fusion is a sweet, gentle guy. He was very camera shy for the photographer, but gave her plenty of kisses once she put away that camera! Stop in to visit Fusion, he is looking for a home where he can get plenty of walks and a nice comfy couch to chill out on.

Poor Deuce is like the revolving door dog. Once again in July, he was abandoned by his adoptive pet parents, who moved and left him behind to fend for himself. A repeat customer, Deuce is hoping this stay at the shelter won't be a long one. Deuce is a four year old male pit bull. He needs to be placed as an only dog. Deuce is confident, and would benefit from a strong leader. Stop by Deuce's cage, he will kindly bark, "I wuv you!"

This is Dukes, new to the shelter on July 31. Dukes doesn't have a good story to tell about his past life, but this 4 year old guy is ready to start a new chapter. This is an awesome dog - don't overlook this one, people!!! He won't be at the shelter very long. Raised with children, doesn't seem to have an issue with other dogs.

Hello! I'm Rosie. I was dumped at A.P. by my owner who said the landlord said I had to go TODAY! What-ev-er! I'm 1 1/2 years old, I love, love, love to dance when I get excited, I love people, I'm a pretty girl -- need I say more? Please stop by to meet me - it's nice at the shelter, but I really don't want to stay too long.

This is Odessa, isn't she adorable? We have many, many black dogs at the shelter right now and they are often just skimmed over or sadly, completely overlooked by visitors. Don't pass them by, take a closer look. Odessa is a meet and greet attendee, she is good with the other dogs and enjoys a nice pat on the head!

Brad likes people and loves to give kisses. He could use some more work in the leash walking department (but he shows the ability to learn quickly). Shelter employees report that Brad tries really hard at his housebreaking skills. We think this little muscular guy is much better looking than the 'real' Brad Pitt. Stop by and see what you think.
Volunteer Comment:
“Brad is a great walker and he sits when told. In the kennel he barks a lot and can jump unbelievably high so I think a lot of visitors are intimidated by him. If you give this guy a chance you'll see how sweet and loving Bradley is. He is interested in his surroundings and sometimes gives a little bark to get someone's attention, but I have never seen him show real aggression to any people or other dogs while out walking. When on our walks he is more than happy to sit and cuddle for a while. When he sits in my lap and looks at me with those big brown eyes I just melt. I'd love to take this sweetie home.”

Special Needs: Star does not like some female dogs.
When Star first came to us, she obviously just had puppies. We were confused, was the family tired of Star? Were they through using her for breeding purposes? Did they turn her out to live on her own after choosing to keep one of her puppies instead? We'll never know. Star is the product of a very bad job of ear cropping. Don't let her funny ears keep you from meeting this gal. No matter what her ears look like, we think she's a beauty.

Tracker |
Name: Tracker

Special Needs: Tracker needs to be placed as an only pet with no children.
Tracker is a very strong and energetic pit bull mix. Tracker tends to challenge the other "kids on the playground," so he most likely needs to be the only dog in the home. He has shown some improvement in his walking on a leash, but still pulls quite a bit and definitely needs some obedience training. He loves to get one on one attention. He does well in low stimulation environments.

Nola |
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Female, spayed
Special Needs: Nola may only have three legs, but she sure gets around! It may be helpful for Nola to live in a home with few stairs.
Nola was hit by a car on April 1. She was whisked off to the emergency vet and the next day had to have her left front leg amputated. Through it all, Nola gave wet sloppy kisses to anyone that looked her way. Nola is an example of some of the work we do at A.P. We never turn away an injured animal. Nola was in foster care where she recovered nicely, she is back at the shelter and ready to find her forever home. She has been to many meet and greets where she enjoys playing with toys and meeting new people and dogs.
Volunteer Comment:
Nola attended the Relay for Life event and was loved by all! She just loved being around shelter dog, Shelotta , all she wanted to do was play! Nola enjoyed doing a lap behind the stadium, but tired quickly in the heat. We spent tome cuddling in the shade with everyone who stopped by to say hi. Nola was an excellent dog at the event and would fit nicely into most family’s.

Tork is a pretty dog with a lot of potential. He is very tall and can appear a little intimidating. But he has manners and he responds to treats and a firm hand at the other end of the leash. Stop in to meet Tork!

What a pose! Hero is a young, brindle pit bull/boxer mix with a personality! He was very scared when he arrived at the shelter, but is finally coming around, proving he is a great dog! Do you have room for a hero in your life?

You may think that Summer looks a little cranky in this picture, you may be right. When she arrived, she was suffering from a severe skin condition (much like her look-alike, Fusion) that made her very uncomfortable. She is well on her way to feeling more comfortable in her skin and has a ton of energy. She is never short on kisses, loves hang out and be petted and does well on her walks.
