Delta

Spayed female – Patch tabby – 5 years

Delta is the smart cat, with the Cheshire grin. She is fun to watch, as she oversees the colony room. Her mind seems to be always working, and she has been smart enough to figure out how to get along with the hundreds of cats she has seen come and go. Delta would be a great cat for the true animal lover, who would enjoy observing her observing them, and willing to wait for her to decide when to be friends.

Delta came from a home, and her friendly housemate was quickly adopted. But Delta does not give her heart to just anybody, so she will have to go to a person that is willing to let her have many months to decide to be friends. She has become quite attached to one of our cat caretakers, and begs her for petting, so we know Delta has it in her to be a great friend. Delta has seen many cats come and go in our colony room, and has gotten along with all of them. She would be a good companion for your cat, or you can adopt her free of charge when adopting another one of our cats, as part of our CAT COMPANION PROGRAM.

Ocean
Breed: Domestic short hair, brown tabby
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: under a year

Soft and joyful as a summer breeze, Ocean will keep you in a summer frame-of-mind! She is so soft and cuddly, she is a joy to hold. She loves to have her back scratched, and will bow in delight as you work your way from shoulders to tail. Of course she is playful, and full of fun. She likes people and cats, and would fit in well with any pet-loving family. If you’re starting a feline family, you may adopt one of Ocean’s current playmates at half the adoption fee when you adopt Ocean. Come in and met this cute kitten today!

Terri
    Breed: Domestic medium hair, tortie
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 2 years

Remember the story, “My Fair Lady”? In it, street wench Eliza Doolittle is tutored to act like a proper lady. She learns so well, she fools every one. Every one but her self, that is. Well, that is sort of what is happening to Terri. She spent the first 6 months of her life on the street, and now is in a foster home, where she exhibits impeccable manners. She always uses the litter box and scratch post or pad, and does not jump up on tables or dressers. Like Eliza, however, Terri is not at ease in her new environment. She comes over to be petted, only to scamper away in fear half the time after loosing her nerve. She has come a long way since she went to foster in February, 2010. But she is still not outgoing enough to attract people looking for a lap cat.

Terri needs someone to take pity on her, and work with her to either help her continue her progress toward becoming an affectionate house cat, or to help her fit back into a group of non-aggressive, outdoor cats. She never causes trouble, so would be good with non-assertive cats, or with kittens. Terri would also be happy as an only cat. If you can help Terri find a safe indoor or outdoor home, please contact her foster mom at onebarnowl@comcast.net.

Kittens
Kitten season is in full swing at Animal Protectors, and we have many kittens to choose from. New kittens are arriving weekly, so we can't keep up with posting them on-line. Stop in and see who is looking for a home today!

Little Lady
    Breed: Domestic short hair, tabby
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: Young
Little Lady is a young tabby with great white accents, including white "socks" on her back legs. She's best pals with black cat Scout - ask in the office for a deal on both of these great cats. We won't say they have to go together, but it sure would be nice if they would!

Melody
    Breed: Domestic short hair, black
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 3 years

Melody is such a sweet girl! Like most black cats, she is affection and easy-going. She would fit into most any pet-loving family. If you think you would like to adopt Melody, ask about our Black Cat discount.

Scout
    Breed: Domestic short hair, black
    Gender: Male, neutered
    Age: Young
This is Scout. His motto is "always be prepared . . . to be adopted." His buddy is Little Lady. Both are youngsters, not quite 1 year of age. Scout him out - you'll be glad you did!

Maria
Breed: Domestic short hair, brown tabby with white
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 3 years

Maria loves people, and is very affectionate. She is a bit wary of the shelter cats, but that may be because there are so many, it is overwhelming to some cats. She may be fine with one house mate. But we know she is fine with people, and loves, loves, loves attention from them!

Brina
    Breed: Domestic short hair, tabby
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1 year old

This darling kitty was fostered, so we know a lot about her! She gets along well with cats and dogs, and has excellent house manners, always using her litter box and scratching post. Brina has a delightful personality. She is both playful and affectionate. Although she prefers petting to being picked up, you can pick her up if necessary; she just will wiggle, wanting to be put down soon. Brina was not fostered with children, but she is very kind and so tolerant of handling, we think she would be an excellent family cat. Brina is waiting for her forever home at Petsmart at the Pittsburgh Mills.

Magnolia
Breed: Domestic short hair, black and white
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: under one year

Hello, my name is Magnolia. I am a polite and quite adorable black and white, six-month-old little girl. I am a healthy spayed kitten and am leukemia negative. My foster mom got me all of my shots, and I was such a well- behaved little girl at the veterinarian’s office. I also have no parasites or fleas – yeah! I use the litter box and am a clean little girl. I eat hard food, but am still quite petite. I am a very vocal kitty and love to be held. I am a social kitten and love other cats and children, and I don’t even mind dogs! If you can find a spot in your heart and home for me, I promise to give you nothing but love and attention. Please call my foster mommy, Paula, at 724-217-5792 to meet me.

Rosetta
    Breed: Domestic short hair, grey
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1 ½ years

Fans of grey cats are sure to appreciate Rosetta's classic beauty. She has a pure grey coat and a grey nose, a sought-after combination. She is also a sweet kitty, enjoying quiet snuggles. She would really like to get adopted, since being around so many cats at the shelter is a bit much for her.

Affrica
    Breed: Maine Coon cross
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1 year

This dark beauty with the striking white and black markings is sure to catch your eye! When she does, be prepared to spend some time with her. Affrica adores attention. She is a sweet, loving girl that will be good company to the lucky family that adopts her. Affrica is waiting for her forever home at Petsmart at the Pittsburgh Mills.

Emma Lu
Breed: Domestic medium hair, brown tabby
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 5 months
This little baby-doll of a cat is the softest, cuddliest kitten you’ll ever meet! She is so content to be held, which is quite unusual for such a young animal. She has soulful eyes that make her appear wise; an old-soul, some may say. She really deserves to grow up in a home, not a cage. Emma Lu is waiting for her forever home at Petsmart at the Pittsburgh Mills.

Ivy
    Breed: Domestic short hair, black
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1-2 years

Ivy is a lover! In her foster home, she was always looking for attention. She loved to be brushed and happy paws were a plenty! Ivy was very vocal. Her foster mom enjoyed carrying on conversations with her. Ivy tolerated being picked up, but did not like to be held for more than a few minutes; you can carry her when needed, to put her in the carrier or to put her in a different room, if you please. Ivy is in the cat room and she is getting along with the other cats. Ivy would be a good choice if you are looking for an only cat, or if you would like a friend for the cat you have!

Joy
Breed: Domestic medium hair, orange and white
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1 year

Aptly named, Joy is soft and cuddly; a real joy to hold. She is playful and fun-loving, getting along well with cats and people. If you’d like a beautiful little cat to grace your home and warm your heart, come meet Joy today!

Sky
Breed: Domestic short hair, grey and white
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 6 months

Friendly, playful and loving attention, this little kitty is the total package. Tolerant of all kinds of handling, Sky has family cat written all over her! Get her while she is still kitten-cute!

Veto
Breed: Domestic short hair, solid grey
    Gender: Male, neutered
    Age: 3 years

Veto is one of those good ol’ boys that fans of big male cats adore. He’s the type of cat that will remind you of a dog, he is so people oriented. He will want to hang out with you as much as possible. He is so extroverted, he even likes strangers. He gets along fine with other cats, but would also do fine as an only cat, since his main focus is the special person in his life – could that be you?

Jupiter
    Breed: Domestic short-hair, grey tabby
    Gender: Male, neutered
    Age: 1 year

Those out-of-this-world eyes will have you doing a double-take! Jupiter is such a striking young man. And having just turned one year old, he is still full of kitten playfulness. He one of the most playful cats in the cat room, and he prefers human playmates to feline. Just be sure to have a toy handy so he doesn’t improvise on your fingers. But he is a sweet, gentle soul that is never aggressive, only enthusiastic. He gets along with cats and people alike. He is so charming and handsome, come meet him before someone else does! He’s sure to go to his forever home soon.

Xandria

    Spayed female – Medium-haired Tortie – 1 yr.

Xandria is a real beauty, with her luxurious black and orange coat. Xandria’s half black, half orange face is reminiscent of the tragedy/comedy mask symbolizing the theater. Well, she is like a Hollywood starlet, waiting for her lucky break! She needs a home with gentle folks who will let her get settled in. She loves to be petted and to play, but she is easily over stimulated. She needs a home where people won’t be fussing over her every minute of the day. She is so very young, she is sure to grow into a calmer kitty in a quiet home environment.

Emma
Breed: Domestic short hair, orange and white
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 2-3 years

Hi there, I'm Emma! I make happy paws when I want you to pet me and I just love to sit next to a human companion and just soak in my surroundings. I am getting used to the other cats here at the shelter, but I would prefer to be your one and only. I love to give attention as much as I love to receive it! Take me home, you won't regret it!

Killian
Breed: Domestic long hair, orange and white
    Gender: Male, neutered
    Age: 2 years

Killian is a striking boy, with his long lush orange and white fur and his handsome, manly face. He is a real man’s man, confident and loyal. He gets along with the other cats, but is pretty much the top cat. His best friend at the shelter is the top female cat of our cat room, Delta. Killian loves to be petted, as long as you leave his giant plume-of-a-tail alone. Killian would best suit a confident owner, who would appreciate having this Teddy Bear of a cat for a pal.

Serena
Breed: Domestic short hair, tortie (DECLAWED)
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 8 years

Sweet Serena was dumped at the shelter in a make-shift cage, from which she escaped. The hunt was on for two days for Serena. She finally came back to the shelter on her own. Used to living with a family, Serena is starved for attention. She is so grateful anytime someone opens her cage to pet her. Won't you let her share her love with you?

Cookie

Spayed tortie - 3 yrs. old

Cookie is the ultimate lap cat. She is so soft and pretty, and will purr in your lap for hours. She has quite a charming personality, and will talk to you, as well as make dainty "happy paws" when you answer her! Because Cookie has a flat coat, she does not shed! A flat coat means there is no undercoat, which is the part of the coat that cats shed. This is called a flat coat, because the outer coat lays flat, since there is no undercoat to puff it up.

Cookie's owner sadly was no longer able to keep her, but it is obvious that she has been loved and well cared for. As much as Cookie adores people, she does not often seek out the company of other cats. She would be fine as an only cat, or in a home with another cat that isn't going to be making demands on her time. She really needs to be back in a home with her own, special person. Could that be you?

Elroy
DECLAWED Neutered male – Brown tabby – 10 yrs.

Adopted from us as a tiny kitten, Elroy is now a very large cat. And his heart is large too – he is soooo affectionate! He’s the type of cat that will hang out where ever you are, just to be with you. And if you have time to pet him, he will be in kitty-heaven!

Elroy was born in Feb 2000, and adopted shortly thereafter. His family enjoyed him so much, they adopted another cat the next year. Elroy got along fine with his new feline brother. All was well, until Elroy’s owners had a baby, when Elroy was 9 years old. Elroy was stressed out by the baby, so his family returned him to us. Poor Elroy celebrated his 10^th birthday in a cage.

Elroy has transitioned to life at the shelter very well, considering he was a pampered family pet for 9 years. He loves everyone, and enjoys being petted. But he really wants to be back in a home, hopefully a quiet, loving one. If you can give a sweet, *declawed *gentleman a second chance, come visit our Elroy today!

Delaney
Breed: Domestic short hair, black and white
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1 year

Delaney will be the first cat to greet you when you enter our cat room! She is that friendly and out-going. She is just as nice as can be to every person and cat she meets. She would be a perfect family cat, and an easy first cat to a first time pet owner. This girl just goes along to get along. She is friendly, but not demanding. What more could you want?

Farrah
    Breed: Domestic short hair, calico
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 1 year

Farrah is a mixed-up little girl that purrs, snuggles, and cuddles, but sometimes nips without warning. She needs an experienced cat person to adopt her, and help her settle into being a house cat. Getting out of the shelter into a quiet, home environment is something Farrah would benefit greatly from.

Shade
    Breed: Domestic short hair, grey
    Gender: Male, neutered
    Age: 7 years

Shade is a super-affectionate boy. He just loves to be petted and will melt your heart.

Speedy
Breed: Domestic short hair, black tabby and white
    Gender: Male, neutered
    Age: 10 years

Poor Speedy had been the best friend of an elderly man for 10 years. In the man’s declining years, Speedy was his constant companion. When he passed away, the man’s adult children did not want their father’s cat, so surrendered him to us. Poor Speedy is in foster care, waiting for a cage opening at the shelter. But even living in a quiet bedroom by himself is overwhelming to him. Speedy had never seen another cat before! Hearing and smelling the cats outside his door is terrifying him. Despite the considerable stress, Speedy is minding his manners, always using his litter box and scratch post. Speedy is in perfect health, and we have 10 years of vet records that show he has never had a health issue. If you have a quiet home, and could reward Speedy for his 10 years of devotion, please contact his foster mom at onebarnowl@comcast.net.

Zinnia
Breed: Domestic medium hair, brown tabby
    Gender: Female, spayed
    Age: 10 months

Such a little cutie, Zinnia is the type of cat that will forever look like a kitten. She is petite with charming wisps of fur accentuating her little ears. Zinnia is so very soft, she is a joy to hold. You can walk around carrying her like a baby doll. She is playful, affectionate, and curious. She is such a fun, pretty girl to have grace your house. Everyone at the shelter just loves her.
